I ran across an image today that I reeeally liked, so here we are...
When you come upon some visual goodness that moves you or that
you know will inspire your fellow podlings, drop it in here for some collective reflection.
I'm pretty sure I like everything about this piece. It is alive and the technique:asis is gorgeous.
... but to see the magic you have to go a bit closer.
>> d'artiste
The artist is Linda Bergkvist and the above link is one of her projects.
Lastly, here is the thread of origin from cgsociety.org, which seems to be a top notch site.

This is the most most META computer interface that has yet been developed.
Xavi, I think you'd digg this over the janky mouse technology.
>> TEDTalks: Jeff Han
Jeff Han is a research scientist for New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Here, he demonstrates—for the first time publicly—his intuitive, "interface-free," touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure.
