Well finally I get around to posting my own.
I'll try and keep this portal up to date.
This first image 'TreeNess' is my first attempt in Corel Painter.
Much inspiration from AndrewJones mixed with my ever evolving flow.

blessings simon.
there used to be another tree in the background, where'd she go?
it feels like the tao is so naked in this piece, it's appeal is limited...
I think this piece would be stronger if it had some sort of creature living in it...
that would give scale and some level meaning. (make it up!)
good using painter - don't hold yourself back!
thanks for sharing.
what is your intension in making art?
I am curious!
bows.

Psssst. Simon.....
I think the piece is perfect as is
The title says it all and the statement that
it's appeal is limited does not sound right to my ears.
Then again I'm crazy about trees.

I'm a softy for trees as well, and this tree has some neat scaling.
Phong's suggestion sounds good, and I guess one takes these reflected ideas gathered from a peer group like this and simply determines whether or not they can authentically express them.
So enters chaos and possibility!
I see those vajric iterations in the background, which does remind me of Andrew Jones.
Your repeating patterns are a little more trancey to me,
whereas I am not completely sure I find Andrew Jones' use of repeating simple geometries to make more complex systems all that cohesive.
Sometimes he bends them as they progress, which I find more 3-D.
But part of the appeal of Jones' art is the speed at which he is capturing these scapes, so I ain't complaining.
Overall this sort of piece really appeals to me.
It bridges the layering potential of watercolor with the precision of motion from the computer.
I'm saving up for a pen tablet so I can start rocking didgital art fo reelz ~ ! hehe...

Thanks to all cells for your constructive feedback!
It is greatly appreciated and inspires me to participate more so.
The piece was an experiment with new tools so it will be interesting to see how this evolves.
I'd like to get speed factored in with precision, because with digital it's too easy to tweak and tweak and tweak to no end.
Like the other little tree that was there, ( Phong ),, it blew away into the clouds.
As for another living creature in this one.. I just don't see it.
The appeal may be limited.. but as is with anything.
Alas, as for my intention with art :
to enjoy.... and to get rich and famous so that I can take over the world.. or at least own a small island and start breeding robot monkey slaves that call me daddy.
( to get the 'real' answer to that question is too broad, each piece may have it's own specific intention, of which I may be no part of, because in the cosmic scope,
I may be a TOOL as well. )
