Well finally I get around to posting my own.
I'll try and keep this portal up to date.
This first image 'TreeNess' is my first attempt in Corel Painter.
Much inspiration from AndrewJones mixed with my ever evolving flow.

Simon, you have been busy.
This is fantastic, just the kind of stuff I like.

Also, your site is meta and a half, beautiful.
Post it in the linkbase section as well.

Thanks Air.

Yeah it's been busy for sure.
keeping up on tech in painting with digital and RL
as well as learning to animate it is a fractal forest with seemingly endless branches!

I love it!!

glad you like my site as well.

simon

this is AMAZING stuff... man you're making me want to try corel painter
i thought it was just andrew jones making all that incredible textural meta ness layerey stuff
but here you are doing it in your own beautiful unique style

it's wonderful to get a hint of what corel painter can offer!!!
very inspiring and empowering of you to try this cool technique and present it here
so thank you

blessings simon.
there used to be another tree in the background, where'd she go? Wink

it feels like the tao is so naked in this piece, it's appeal is limited...
I think this piece would be stronger if it had some sort of creature living in it...
that would give scale and some level meaning. (make it up!)

good using painter - don't hold yourself back!
thanks for sharing.

Frog Buddha

what is your intension in making art?
I am curious!

Psssst. Simon.....
I think the piece is perfect as is Smile

The title says it all and the statement that
it's appeal is limited does not sound right to my ears.

Then again I'm crazy about trees.

I'm a softy for trees as well, and this tree has some neat scaling.
Phong's suggestion sounds good, and I guess one takes these reflected ideas gathered from a peer group like this and simply determines whether or not they can authentically express them.
So enters chaos and possibility! Twisted Evil

I see those vajric iterations in the background, which does remind me of Andrew Jones.
Your repeating patterns are a little more trancey to me,
whereas I am not completely sure I find Andrew Jones' use of repeating simple geometries to make more complex systems all that cohesive.
Sometimes he bends them as they progress, which I find more 3-D.
But part of the appeal of Jones' art is the speed at which he is capturing these scapes, so I ain't complaining.

Overall this sort of piece really appeals to me.
It bridges the layering potential of watercolor with the precision of motion from the computer.

I'm saving up for a pen tablet so I can start rocking didgital art fo reelz ~ ! hehe...

i completely see / imagine that tree trunk to be the body of a long elvish woman.
the branch is her arm...

i love it. yum.

i like the tree. it has a nice soft liquid feel to it. really nice colors too. you body of work is pretty intense. i need to go over all the pieces again and really take them in this weekend. your visions are most beautiful though. some remind me a bit of alex grey's work, which is good. nice work!

Thanks to all cells for your constructive feedback! Very Happy
It is greatly appreciated and inspires me to participate more so.

The piece was an experiment with new tools so it will be interesting to see how this evolves.
I'd like to get speed factored in with precision, because with digital it's too easy to tweak and tweak and tweak to no end.
Like the other little tree that was there, ( Phong ),, it blew away into the clouds.
As for another living creature in this one.. I just don't see it.
The appeal may be limited.. but as is with anything.

Alas, as for my intention with art :
to enjoy.... and to get rich and famous so that I can take over the world.. or at least own a small island and start breeding robot monkey slaves that call me daddy.
Laughing

( to get the 'real' answer to that question is too broad, each piece may have it's own specific intention, of which I may be no part of, because in the cosmic scope,
I may be a TOOL as well. )
